Hawaii Issues Emergency Order for Areas Impacted by September Tropical Cyclones
In response to Hurricane Lowell, Tropical Storm/Hurricane Lala, and associated weather events, Hawaii has issued an Emergency Order requesting insurers provide relief and accommodations to affected policyholders. The order is effective September 10, 2026, through January 7, 2027.
Under the order, insurers are requested to suspend policy cancellations and non-renewals, provide reasonable grace periods for premium payments, work with policyholders on payment arrangements, waive late fees and penalties where appropriate, and offer other accommodations for customers impacted by these events.
